Rhytidectomy or Face Lift is a surgical procedure designed to restore a more youthful look to your face. As you age the effects of gravity and redistribution of fat change your facial contour. Wrinkles and skin damage add to your aged look. Some of the most notable signs of an aging face are wrinkles, the presence of jowls, creases on ones face between the nose and the corner of the mouth.
Before your Houston face lift:
Dr. Humble will determine what type of facelift incision will be required to maximize your outcome. Several adjuvant procedures will be discussed along with your surgical plan. Fat grafting, using your own fat, will be used to help correct the redistribution of facial fat. Some patients elect to have additional facial procedures along with their facelift which most commonly include browlift, eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty or a chemical peel. Dr. Humble will meet with you and discuss the advantages of each surgery and along with your input will determine your surgical plan.
Your facelift surgery:
Face Lifts are performed in a certified surgical center under general anesthesia. The skin flap is raised, the underlying muscles and fat are tightened, then the skin is re-draped and the extra skin is removed. The surgery typically takes 4-5 hours and patients are sent home the same day. Your face will be placed in a fluffy dressing after surgery and you will return to the clinic the day after surgery for your first follow up appointment.
Face lift recovery
Post face lift discomfort is managed with oral pain medication and close follow up will be performed by Dr. Humble. Sutures will be removed 5-7 days after surgery. Patients typically return to work 1 week after their operation and aerobic exercise can be restarted one month after surgery.
