What types of breast implants are available?

There are several different implant manufacturers, the three that are most commonly used in the in the United States are Allergan, Mentor, and Sientra. There are saline and silicone filled breast implants available. All implants including the saline once have a silicone shell. The new generation of silicone breast implants are filled with a cohesive silicone gel and are often referred to as a “gummy bear breast implants”. There are also anatomic or tear drop shaped breast implants that allow for a more natural appearance and may be better suited for very thin patients.
