Sculptra

What is Sculptra?

Say goodbye to wrinkles and hello to firmer skin with Sculptra!

Sculptra is an injectable treatment that gradually produces continuous improvements in skin tone, firmness, and elasticity by triggering increased production of collagen, a natural substance that supports skin cells at the structural level.  Sculptra increases fullness and volume in skin cells, while gradually reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

How does Sculptra work?

Increased collagen production produces younger-looking skin!

Sculptra is formulated as a thick gel that gradually and naturally improves skin tone for several months following treatment, fortifying the skin through increased collagen production and producing firmer, smoother, younger-looking skin. Sculptra improves skin volume and texture, while adding contour and definition to facial areas where the aging process and exposure to the elements have resulted in a flattened, sunken, or sagging appearance.  Sculptra augments facial volume and restores firmness to sagging skin without plastic surgery.  You may also combine Sculptra with other dermal injectables, or use it to enhance surgical procedures for a more dramatic facial improvement.

Sculptra Benefits

Thanks to its unique viscosity, Sculptra treatments often yield longer lasting results than other dermal fillers.  One treatment typically produces smooth, firm results for up to two years or more.

FAQ

What is the RHA® Collection?

The RHA® Collection is Resilient Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal fillers designed for facial dynamics. The collection represents the latest advancement in HA technology in more than a decade. The RHA® Collection uses a gentle manufacturing process to more closely resemble the natural HA in the skin. The RHA® Collection offers four HA-filler formulations. RHA Redensity™ is a weightless filler that smooths delicate lipstick lines. RHA® 2 and RHA® 3 offer elegant and refined smoothing for those seeking a soft, natural look in wrinkles and folds. RHA® 3 also enhances lip fullness and definition. Lastly, RHA® 4 provides natural volume for deeper dynamic wrinkles and folds.

When will I see results and how long will they last?

Dermal filler injection results are immediate. The results from the RHA® Collection of fillers can typically last up to 15 months in wrinkles and folds and 1 year in lipstick lines. The RHA® Collection is widely studied. The clinical effectiveness and safety of RHA® 2, RHA® 3, and RHA® 4 were shown in two 15-month studies for wrinkles and folds. The clinical effectiveness and safety of RHA® 3 in the lips was shown in a 12-month study in which nearly 1/2 of participants had increased lip fullness at 1 year. The clinical effectiveness and safety of RHA Redensity™ were shown in a 12-month study for lipstick lines—in which 2/3 of participants still had lipstick-line improvement at 12 months.

What is it like to get injected with dermal fillers?

When receiving the RHA® Collection, your provider may first numb the area with a local anesthetic. He/she will then inject the filler into the desired area using a fine needle, which most people say feels like a pinch. After the injection is complete, you may experience some redness or swelling in the treatment area for a few days. You may also notice some bruising around the injection site. These common side effects are temporary and should go away within 7-10 days.

Is Sculptra safe and what are Sculptra side effects?

Sculptra is FDA-approved in the United States and has been used worldwide since 1999. Sculptra is made of a synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid that is absorbed naturally by the body and has been used for years in dissolvable stitches. Since Sculptra does not contain any human or animal components, no allergy testing is needed prior to treatments. Side effects reported include injection site pain, redness, bruising, tenderness, itching and lumps, bleeding, and swelling. Small bumps under the skin can sometimes be noticeable when pressing on the treated area. Larger lumps, with or without inflammation, have also been reported. The types and duration of side effects may vary. If you are experiencing side effects, talk to your doctor.

Who can inject Sculptra?

Specialists who have been trained to inject Sculptra and are licensed to practice within the state may administer treatment. This can include physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and other trained personnel. Galderma offers an extensive training program, because we believe that proper injection technique and aftercare are crucial to optimizing patient outcomes.
