Are there any injectable filler treatments that require surgery?
Yes. Autologous fat injections, known as facial fat grafting, do require surgery. However, the results can last several years. The fat of the patient is harvested from another area of the body, typically by means of liposuction. That is why the procedure is referred to as “autologous” – which means from the same person. After the fat is extracted, it is refined and administered by way of injection to the facial area. Autologous fat injections restore volume and smoothness to areas, such as the lower eyelids, forehead, and cheeks.
