FAQ

How long does the CO2 resurfacing process take?

Usually, the resurfacing is done in-office, or for more extensive procedures, on an out-patient basis. Depending on the sites being treated, the surgery usually takes about 1 to 3 hours.

What happens after the procedure of CO2 resurfacing?

Right after the procedure, a technician will place a dressing on the facial area. Both swelling and crusting usually occur. Ointments are recommended after the procedure, and are applied for about 10 days. Skin redness, which happens during healing, normally fades in around 3-4 weeks. Patients are asked to avoid temperature extremes during this time as well as follow a healthy diet. Foods rich in sodium should be avoided, as they can worsen the swelling.

Will I experience discomfort during the post-op period after CO2 Resurfacing procedure?

Usually, you will feel alright, as long as you take pain medications and keep the facial area moistened. Doing so will lower the risk of infection and quicken recovery.

When can I return to work after the laser procedure?

New surface skin will emerge in about 10 days. Redness experienced after this period can be covered with a tinted make-up. Therefore, you can return to work in about 10 to 14 days.

How long will my face remain red after the surgery of CO2 Resurfacing?

The redness will gradually subside in 30 days after the procedure.

Should I take special precautions if I go outside while healing after CO2 Resurfacing?

Yes. Remember to wear a hat or apply a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 if you venture outside. Try to go outdoors in the early morning or during sunset when the sun’s UV rays are not so direct and damaging?

How much does a CO2 skin resurfacing, on average, cost?

Depends on the area it can range between $1,000-$2,500. However, this price is a general estimate. You still have to consider the location of the surgery and if you may need an additional procedure.

The laser treatment can also be used for the removal of acne scars and wrinkles. This non-invasive laser therapy can be used on all skin types. Because the laser light is delivered more quickly, in picoseconds instead of nanoseconds, the surrounding tissues at a site are not affected or damaged from the laser light.
