FAQ

What are some of the adverse side effects of a PicoSure® laser treatment?

Although few and far between, adverse effects may include hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, mild edema or erythema, and infection or scarring. By following the post-treatment instructions given by a PicoSure® doctor, the patient greatly reduces the possibility of an adverse reaction.

What about further sun exposure after PicoSure® surgery?

PicoSure® specialists strongly advise against exposing yourself to the sun between PicoSure® treatments. If you go outside, make sure you shield your face or take measures to limit sun exposure.

What else can I expect after PicoSure® surgery?

You may also, in some cases, see some mild bruising or experience tingling sensation that feel like you have a slight sunburn. These types of effect usually resolve themselves without the need for medical intervention. A slight bronzing or darkening of the skin may occur about 3 to 10 days after a treatment, but will also resolve itself without the need to see a doctor.

Am I a good candidate for PicoSure® wrinkle removal treatments?

If you display fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes and mouth and on the arms and hands, you can benefit from this form of laser treatment.

How does PicoSure® work with respect to smoothing wrinkles?

The laser works by targeting all three layers of the UV-damaged skin – the epidermal layer and the mid-dermal and deep-dermal tiers of the skin. When the laser is applied, the body responds by clearing away the older and damaged tissue and rebuilding it anew with collagen elastin fibers. Because collagen and elastin growth is stimulated, the skin continues to be revitalized after the therapy is completed.

Am I the right candidate for PicoSure® acne scar treatment?

This laser therapy can be used on various skin types, including pale to darker skin. If you have unsightly acne scars, you can use PicoSure® to reduce their appearance, regardless of your skin type. If you have darker skin, it usually takes longer to achieve the desired results – sometimes as long as (8) 15-minute sessions. The normal number of treatments involve 3 to 5 sessions of 15 minutes each. This can vary, again, depending on the skin tone and the extent of scarring.

Can PicoSure® be used to remove acne scars on any part of the body besides the face?

Yes. This procedure has been cleared by the FDA to remove acne scars on the face and other parts of the body.

Can I use the PicoSure® treatment to treat acne scarring?

Yes, you can. Unlike regular surgery, laser acne scar therapy, using PicoSure®, uses laser light to reach into the skin’s sub-layers to remove older and damaged tissue and rebuild it. This is done by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. Both collagen and elastic represent the building blocks of resilient and youthful skin.

What is Ultherapy®?

Ultherapy® is a safe, non-surgical ultrasound treatment that counteracts the effects of time and gravity on your skin. Ultherapy® uses the body’s own regenerative response to gently and gradually lift skin on the eyebrow, under the chin and on the neck, and smooth lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.

What is unique about Ultherapy®?

Ultherapy® is the only non-invasive treatment cleared by the FDA to actually lift skin. Ultherapy® is also the only cosmetic procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows practitioners to see the layers of tissue targeted during the treatment to ensure the energy is deposited to where it will be most beneficial. With the addition of the new Ultherapy® Décolletage Treatment. Ultherapy® is also now the only non-invasive procedure specifically indicated by the FDA to improve lines and wrinkles on the chest.
