FAQ
What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that aims to reshape the nose to improve its appearance and function. This procedure can be performed for cosmetic purposes, such as improving the appearance of a misshapen or unattractive nose, or for medical reasons, such as correcting breathing difficulties or nasal trauma. Rhinoplasty can address a range of concerns, including a bulbous tip, a crooked nose, a hump on the bridge, or a wide nose.
How Does Rhinoplasty Work?
Rhinoplasty is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes between one and two hours to complete. During the procedure, the plastic surgeon makes incisions inside the nostrils or on the base of the nose. The surgeon then reshapes the bone and cartilage of the nose to achieve the desired results. In some cases, the surgeon may add tissue to the nose to achieve a more natural-looking result. Once the procedure is complete, the incisions are closed with sutures and the patient is given a nasal splint to wear for several days.
What are Fillers?
Fillers, also known as dermal fillers or soft tissue fillers, are injectable substances used to restore volume, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. They are typically made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the body that provides moisture and plumpness to the skin. Other types of fillers may contain substances like calcium hydroxylapatite or poly-L-lactic acid.
How do Fillers Work?
During a filler treatment, a trained healthcare professional will carefully inject the filler substance into specific areas of the face using a fine needle or cannula. The filler adds volume to the treated area, filling in wrinkles, lines, and hollows. It can also stimulate collagen production, which helps improve the skin's texture and firmness over time.
What is Kybella?
Kybella is a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the area under the chin, Kybella works to destroy fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in submental fullness.
How does Kybella work?
During a Kybella treatment, a trained healthcare professional will administer a series of small injections into the targeted area under the chin. The deoxycholic acid in Kybella breaks down the fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated by the body's metabolic processes over time. This process gradually reduces the appearance of the double chin and improves the contour of the jawline.
What are stretch marks?
Also known as striae, stretch marks start off as pink, reddish, or purple lesions found on the skin and appear as indented streaks or lines. In later stages, they often turn more white in color.
What causes stretch marks?
Stretch marks are typically formed as a result of the body’s rapid growth and change through puberty, pregnancy, or weight gain, when the skin is stretched quicker than normal growth. Other contributing factors include excess use of steroidal topical creams, hormone imbalance, and genetics.
Do stretch marks go away on their own?
The color might diminish in time, but they will not completely disappear on their own. And, there are no effective over-the-counter treatments at this time.
What common areas of the body do stretch marks occur?
While they can appear anywhere on your body, the most common areas they tend to form are where the largest amounts of fat are stored, such as the abdomen, upper arms, thighs, breasts, hips, and buttocks.
